Written by eyao | Last updated 2 months ago | 7 Thanks |
- 80 levels with more coming along the way
- Difficulty levels range from really easy to extremely challenging
- In my opinion, simple but effective and good looking art
- Great time waster for when you're bored
- Sometimes requires pixel perfect positioning of gears
- No features to enhance replay value
Geared is a puzzle game which lets you place gears of varying sizes on a screen to accomplish the usual objective of turning one "goal" gear on the screen and starting out at a "initial" gear. As you place them on the screen, they interact with each other as you would expect, so placing them incorrectly would create jams in their rotations.

The levels start off easy, giving a tutorial of how the game works and then as you progress introduces several mechanics to make it harder to find the right solution. In later levels, the difficulty ramps up quite a bit and while in the beginning you can complete a level in maybe a few min, the later ones took me in the order of half an hour or more.

Moving and placing gears is easy enough, but in later levels, because of the difficulty, you're forced to position them much more accurately. I guess my fingers are really large, but it took me several tries to get the pinpoint accuracy needed to make those gears fit!
This is one of the more fun puzzle games on the iPhone out there. I highly recommend it to those who need a decent game to play while bored. It's cheap, it has a pretty good production value, and enough levels and difficulty to last you awhile.
Score: 4.5/5.0
