Unlocking Secret Characters

Super Smash Brothers Brawl features a total of 21 selectable characters at the beginning of the game.  However, as you go on through the game, you can unlock up to 14 more characters to play as, increasing the total to 35 characters.  I am going to show you the multiple ways of unlocking the 14 different characters in this game.

While attempting to unlock a character, please note that you will need to defeat the character in a 1-stock one-on-one match after completing the goal in order to unlock them.  This is not necessary if you unlock the character in the Subspace Emissary adventure mode.

In order to unlock Ness, you must do one of the following:

• Play 5 Group Brawls
  
• Reflect 10 Projectiles (Can be accomplished easily using Fox's reflector ability)
• Get Ness to join you in the Subspace Emissary
  

In order to unlock Marth, you must do one of the following:

• Play 10 Group Brawls
• Complete Classic Mode (With Any Character on Any Difficulty)
• Get Marth to join you in the Subspace Emissary
  

In order to unlock Luigi, you must do one of the following:

• Play 22 Group Brawls
• Complete Classic Mode without using a Continue (With Any Character on Any Difficulty)
• Get Luigi to join you in the Subspace Emissary
  

In order to unlock Falco Lombardi, you must do one of the following:

• Play 50 Group Brawls
• Complete the 100-Man Brawl in the Multi-Man Brawl Mode
• Get Falco Lombardi to join you in the Subspace Emissary
  

In order to unlock Captain Falcon, you must do one of the following:

• Play 70 Group Brawls
• Complete Classic Mode in 12 minutes or less (With Any Character on Any Difficulty)
• Get Captain Falcon to join you in the Subspace Emissary
  

In order to unlock Lucario, you must do one of the following:

• Play 100 Group Brawls
• Complete All 5 Target Test difficulties with a single player
• Get Lucario to join you in the Subspace Emissary

In order to unlock Snake, you must do one of the following:

• Play 130 Group Brawls
• Play 15 Group Brawls in the Shadow Moses Island stage
• Get Solid Snake to join you in the Subspace Emissary
  

In order to unlock R.O.B., you must do one of the following:

• Play 160 Group Brawls
• Collect 250 different trophies
• Get R.O.B. to join you in the Subspace Emissary
  

In order to unlock Ganondorf, you must do one of the following:

• Play 200 Group Brawls
• Complete Classic Mode on Hard using either Link or Zelda
• Get Ganondorf to join you in the Subspace Emissary *

* - Near the end of the Subspace Emissary, Ganondorf will only join you if you have collected the statues/trophies of both Link and Zelda in the sequence after they are turned into the statues/trophies.

In order to unlock Mr. Game and Watch, you must do one of the following:

• Play 250 Group Brawls
• Complete Any Level of Target Test mode with at least 30 characters
• Get Mr. Game and Watch to join you in the Subspace Emissary
  

In order to unlock Sonic, you must do one of the following:

• Play 300 Group Brawls
• Complete Classic Mode with 10 Different Characters (on Any Difficulty)
• Play in Brawls for 10 hours
  
• Get Sonic to join you in the Subspace Emissary
  

In order to unlock Jigglypuff, you must do one of the following:

• Play 350 Group Brawls
• Complete the Subspace Emissary mode and Clear Events 1-20
• Get Jigglypuff to join you in the Subspace Emissary *

* - Jigglypuff can only be found in the Susbspace Emissary after completing the mode.  Once you complete it, you may find and fight Jigglypuff in the Swamp area.

In order to unlock Toon Link, you must do one of the following:

• Play 400 Group Brawls
• Complete Classic mode (With Any Character on Any Difficulty) after completing the Subspace Emissary Mode
• Get Toon Link to join you in the Subspace Emissary *

* - Toon Link can only be found in the Susbspace Emissary after completing the mode.  Once you complete it, you may find and fight Toon Link in the Forest area.

In order to unlock Wolf O'Donnell, you must do one of the following:

• Play 450 Group Brawls
• Complete Boss mode with Fox McCloud or Falco Lombardi *
• Get Wolf O'Donnell to join you in the Subspace Emissary **

* - Boss mode is unlocked after completing the Subspace Emissary.
** - Wolf O'Donnell can only be found in the Susbspace Emissary after completing the mode.  Once you complete it, you may find and fight Wolf O'Donnell in the Ruins area.
